Positioning Nonprofit Research Funding

Blue Line
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Dennis Tartaglia designed media strategies to make a range of audiences aware of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s major investment in research on blood-related cancers – and of the initial payoff on this investment.  He created an extensive research awareness program that included:  an off-site journalist briefing at the annual American Society on Clinical Oncology (ASCO) scientific meeting; funding initiative announcements; and publicity on peer-reviewed papers.  Results included extensive coverage in consumer and medical press, from CBS News to the Oncology Times.

Promoting a Nonprofit’s Image and Programs

Blue Line
National Multiple Sclerosis Society
For four years, Dennis Tartaglia created award-winning publications and publicity campaigns for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s New York City chapter. Media placements included feature stories in The New York Times, Daily News, USA Today, on all New York City television stations, and in other major news outlets.  His media efforts covered the nonprofit’s fund-raising events, from the MS Walk to black-tie galas; research funding and scientific developments; advocacy and policy issues; and chapter services for people with MS. In addition, he secured media sponsorship of MS Society events, and recruited and coordinated the involvement of celebrities and media personalities in the Society’s New York fund raisers and public-service campaigns.

NOTE:  This work was done by Dennis Tartaglia while employed by M Booth & Associates and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
